This carbon steel Sax blade is modeled after the Sax long knives found in the Viking settlement of Birka in Lake Mälaren. The blade is delivered without a handle and sharpened, with a hardness between 58 to 60 Rockwell. The blade's dimensions are as follows: total length of 46 cm, blade length of 34 cm, blade height of 3.2 cm, blade back of 4 mm, and tang of 12.5 cm. The Sax was a common tool and weapon among Germanic tribes, including the Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, and Franks. Unlike the continental Saxes of the Franks, which had a more compact shape, and the insular Saxes from the Anglo-Saxon region, which often had Bowie knife-like blades, the Scandinavian Saxes, particularly those from eastern Sweden, were longer and slimmer.
